My suggestion is to use a contrasting but complimentary colour with the tiles. Don't try to match because unless you get it spot on it never looks right. Cheers Re: Open plan kitchen tiles & laminate 4Jun 04, 2014 7:37 pm srod Hi Lou, I'm in the same boat... trying to decide if we should use tiles in kitchen and bamboo elsewhere. My house is not built yet so no photo to share but there is this example I found: http://www.houzz.com/photos/37617/Walla ... n-new-york I'm trying to figure out if a darker tile will look good next to the wood-look. What colours were you thinking of using? SRod Yes SRod that is exactly what I was thinking of, we were originally going to go a dark quickstep colonial laminate (walnut or the sydney gum) as we have little ones that are so hard on our current floors & was thinking of a lighter tile in the kitchen. So many decisions! If we do it i will post you a pic as we are still in the negotiating stage so house is not built yet either. Re: Open plan kitchen tiles & laminate 5Mar 12, 2015 4:29 pm I have the same question.... so I thought I'd just use this old thread (saves double ups). Does anyone have pics? We are looking into getting laminate flooring installed. Currently we have carpet in our open plan area Meals, Lounge & hall/ entry way and I am sick of trying to keep it clean! But we have tiles in the kitchen (part of the open plan area). We will probably sell the house eventually so for cost purposes we don't want to bother pulling up tiles. So if any one please have pics of this? Also we have light beige coloured tiles in the kitchen, any suggestions/ recommendations to what colour flooring may go with this?
