Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 02, 2014 9:18 pm Hi all Hoping some people could post up pictures of their Tallowwood floors as having issues finding good pictures to show the colours. Worried it will be too olive (green) but like to look of the lighter colour/ browns it has. Love Grey Ironbark but leaning towards Tallowwood as the lighter colour will help keep the open look to the house as it will be open plan living on ground level and the same timber will be used on deck and stair tread to take you up to the bedrooms. If you can let me know if the colour has changed with age and what type of finish was use that would be great Thanks Martin Re: Show me your Tallowwood Floor 2May 06, 2014 9:49 am Have a look here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25104&start=240 Be aware that usually tallowwood will have some other timber type in the mix (a smaller proportion), I can't remember right now, but usually it will be eucalyptus of some kind and usually quite lighter than twd. Also, twd will come up quite dark if coated with solvent based. If you use Bona Traffic, it will also come up quite dark!!! I've seen some radiata pics, coated with water based Cabot?? (I think) and that's about as light as you'd get from what I've seen so far. Maybe twd would come up lighter with Cabot as well, not sure. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ...
