Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 21, 2008 10:24 am Is there a 'best' time of year to get cheaper flooring?
Or do flooring places work like other retailers and have sales all the time? My house is supposed to be ready in June, so I'm hoping they have a big end of financial year sale. Re: Sales on Flooring 2May 21, 2008 10:52 am Too many people put too much energy into saving a dollar, instead of being discerning when choosing the product. Buy what will give you good service.
Sometimes, there are warehouse sales or remnants that can be cheaper though. Ash. Re: Sales on Flooring 4May 21, 2008 7:19 pm OK that's good. Wasn't having a go at you, but generally I think there's too much focus on the 'best deal' instead of the 'best product'.
If you know exactly what type of carpet you want, get quotes and shop around. Listen & look for advertised sales that include what you want, but beware of them trying to sell what they want to sell. Bigger warehouses and volume suppliers often have greater buying power, and may offer best prices. I still am a bit reticent though..... if prices are dirt cheap, they are probably going to cut costs somehow, it may be taking shortcuts in laying practices, type of underlay, something! If buying fridge model XYZ123, shopping around may get you the best price. If the product is the same, you've saved. With services though, it doesn't work that way. I just think floor-covering should be chosen carefully, and price should not be a primary consideration. End of sermon! Ash. 1000000% definitely add insulation.
