Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 20, 2014 10:19 am The house that we bought came with new white carpets - would not have been our choice given our the mess that young kids make. The carpet has a whole heap of stains now. I was wondering what was the best way to remove them? Is getting professional carpet cleaners in the best long term solution or are there any good carpet clearners that you can buy (given that even once all the stains are gone it is likely that the will get stained again in a short space of time). Re: Cleaning white carpets 2Mar 20, 2014 10:37 am We rented a property with white carpets in all areas bar the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. Honestly, it was the biggest pain in the butt. We had to have it steam cleaned every 3 months (Dry cleaning was a waste of money) - they came up lovely, but would quickly deteriorate again. We dont have kids, but 2 small dogs - we tried to do all the things that would assist in making the carpet stay cleaner, ie: regular vaccuming, taking shoes off when inside etc. But it was just so much work to keep it looking decent with every mark, or bit of dirt standing out like a lighthouse in the night. If you can, rip it up and replace it with laminate or a darker carpet. The cost will close to offset your regular steam cleaning costs in the future (depending on how long you keep the carpet for). And save your sanity! The stains need to be treated with a certain product for successful removal. Do not go for cheapy carpet cleaners as they do not carry stain removal products, just ask them first.
Re: Cleaning white carpets 4Jun 22, 2015 12:14 pm White carpet is tough ask in itself. We had off white carpets and our pup used to make complete efforts that it doesn't stay white.
