Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 17, 2014 2:42 pm Hello all Im just about to get the keys to my new house. I need to decide on flooring for the main floors of the house (bedrooms are carpet and that's booked in already) Im leaning towards cheap laminate flooring as i can install myself, its cheap and can be easily removed in the future if i decide i want something nicer and can afford it e.g. tiles. Iv come down to 2 choices under $15/m2 supplied. One is textured and the other is smooth but otherwise construction is basically identical. Im thinking the textured one would be slightly more durable but harder to clean and the smooth might looks slightly nicer and be easier to clean. Any suggestions or ideas? thanks Luke My Build - SA Largs North First build Re: Textured vs Smooth Laminate flooring 2Mar 17, 2014 4:23 pm We've got the textured, I don't like the feel of it under my feet and yes it is harder to clean as dirt can build up in the grooves if you don't keep on top of it.if I could have my time over I would go with the smooth type. Re: Textured vs Smooth Laminate flooring 3Mar 18, 2014 3:17 pm I haven't had textured laminate, but my recent rental had textured vinyl. It was definitely more difficult to clean and I too didn't like the feel of walking on it when bare footed. Re: Textured vs Smooth Laminate flooring 4Mar 19, 2014 9:55 am thanks - exactly my thoughts. Will aim for smooth then, i think it will look better too.
