Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 20, 2008 9:23 pm We are thinking of getting Bolyu (Beaulieu) carpet for our new house.
We really like the Broadwalk range in weathered acorn.... It,s 100 % Resistain solution dyed nylon, but we,ve heard some negative comments about solution dyed carpets,so now we,re not sure if it,s the right choice If anyone has any comments about it or any recommendations it would really be appreciated Many thanks Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Does anyone have Bolyu (Beaulieu) Broadwalk carpet? 2May 20, 2008 9:39 pm Mel,
http://www.beaulieu.com.au/bolyu_produc ... ntial&id=7 Suggest you ask them if the yarn is type 6 or 6.6 SDN. (in writing). Looks OK if you like it, but I can't comment on the carpet specifically. 20 year warranty is rather ambitious! Would be interesting to read the fine print! Ash. My comments shouldn't be taken out of context..... Sure, I have raised some issues about the actual performance of many SDN carpets sold for the residential market, but this shouldn't be seen as a general canning of these carpets! What I mostly was bringing into question is the marketing associated with residential SDNs, and whether they live up to the rather overstated claims. Its not to say they don't perform well, just that they are not bulletproof. Looking at the Beaulieu info, and the specs of the particular carpets you've said you liked, I have no strong reason to say you won't be really very happy with it. It is a 36oz carpet, and should give good service. With totally synthetic construction, it has many strengths, and chances are, they use select nylon face yarn. Asking for confirmation about the yarn type may confirm this to be so. All different carpet types have some good and other not-so-good characteristics. The important thing is choosing what you like and suits your purpose, and that you understand its performance parameters. Making informed decisions is what I am advocating. Ash. Re: Does anyone have Bolyu (Beaulieu) Broadwalk carpet? 5May 21, 2008 10:02 am Thanks Ash
It,s so confusing looking at all the different carpet types We,ve been into several carpet shops and nearly all of them recommended this carpet, but they are salesmen after all and you can only take their word for it.....I think we,ll ask them a few more questions before we make a decision.... Thanks again Ash Mel Building on 9 acres 1 10973 1 15704 they can, it's a fairly standard solution when the slab isn't recessed. the falls need to be in the main floor, if it hasn't been done then you need to ask them to redo… 4 6578 |
