Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 12, 2014 11:40 am Good morning, I am going to have cream tiles in my living areas with a cream coloured grout. I am worried about the grout getting dirty and how to keep it clean given that these will be high traffic areas. Does anyone know if there is anything you can buy or do to prevent the grout from discolouration? Thanks Tussy Re: Cream tiles in living areas - grout question 2Mar 17, 2014 4:30 pm We had the same color in our previous house,to my knowledge there isn't anything, personally I didn't like them because the grout discloured over time. I know a lot of people use a bicarb soda paste to clean their grout. I would check with your local tile supplier or bunnings. Hope this helps Re: Cream tiles in living areas - grout question 3Mar 17, 2014 7:02 pm We have something similar in the shower - and it cops a lot - soaps, shampoos, water, cleaners, dirt and grime. Maybe just need a clean over on a regular basis ? Re: Cream tiles in living areas - grout question 4Mar 17, 2014 7:22 pm We just had ours professionally cleaned. I asked the cleaner what made the grout so dirty and he said using too much detergent (cleaner) - because it sits in the grout and dirt gets trapped in it. The only way to get it up is scrubbing or a professional cleaner with a machine. He suggested to use white spirits in water to clean - but I tried that and my house smelled like a petrol station. The other thing I was thinking was using a cup of vinegar diluted in a bucket of water (the smell goes quickly). His other suggestion was if we absolutely had to use floor detergent, to only use a small amount and to go back over the mopping with just plain water so the detergent doesn't build up in the grout. Re: Cream tiles in living areas - grout question 5Mar 17, 2014 7:42 pm If its a new place consider sealing the grout as soon as you can. There are plenty of products and even some that can be sprayed on so shouldn't be too bad if you need to seal a couple hundred square meters. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me thanks. the above one is white Mat tiles and have gripness so going for this Mat tiles for both indoor and outdoor.
