Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Nov 04, 2013 9:47 am We are wanting to use vinyl planks through out our entire house but have been told by a few people that they aren't ideal for wet areas and we are better off using sheet vinyl we have also been told by a few people that they are fine and wont be a problem. So now Im undecided and would very much appreciate any feedback from people who have used them. Thanks in advance Re: Vinyl Planks in wet areas? 2Nov 06, 2013 7:00 pm Hi, my mum had vinyl plank installed and was advised to only ever clean it with a damp, not wet, mop- I think this speaks for itself. However, vinyl plank is definitely superior in looks and durability to sheet vinyl. Tiles are tried and true for wet areas, why not ask about straight edged tiles, which can be laid butted up to each other? They are a great compromise, with very minimal grout lines showing. You will also never have to worry about moisture. (They also are warm underfoot when you place them in a room with a north/northwest aspect, and as they have great thermal mass they retain the warmth for hours).
