Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 23, 2013 11:57 am Hi guys. Just thought id share what happened to our black bamboo floors over the past year. We had them installed in a west facing room (which gets the most afternoon sun) about a year ago. Over the past year we would routinely hear loud "cracking" noises at night coming from this room which we put down to normal expansion and contraction of the boards. About 2 months ago the floor actually started warping / rising where the sliding door was. At this end it was not secured under the skirting but a metal edging which was glued on the sliding door frame. The edging itself had come loose and rose with the floorboards. I had the guy come out last weekend to look at it and he said the floor did not have enough space to expand so he proceeded to uninstall half the floor, trim the edge of the end boards and reinstall the floor. He also glued the floorboards directly to the concrete base where the sliding door was. Since then, no more loud cracking noises. Hope its resolved the issue.
