My Mother In Law sanded back her cork floors and resealed them a couple of years ago (they need to be done every 7-10yrs depending on wear - the polyurethane gets worn) and it cost her about $8k (we are in rural WA). It's a large house.
We're about to build a similar sized house... and the cost of new 'not the cheap one' vinyl is about the same price, with a warranty of 14yrs.
We wanted to do cork floors but with two little rugrats destroying everything over the next few years we've decided to go with the vinyl now and put the cork in when the kids are old enough to remember to not ride bikes in the house. All up it will cost us the same in $$$, time and effort, discomfort and a lot less yelling in the interim.
