Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 01, 2013 8:34 pm I'm looking at tile options at the moment. The porcelain that I like is easily a 10k upgrade for Italian porcelain. I really need to decide what to do. Budget is tight. Are ceramic tiles really that bad. Will I regret them? Pros and cons obviously is that they chip easily. If I can't afford Italian porcelain and don't want china porcelain then I'm looking at ceramic but I'm so confused about what I should choose Please help me. I've found nothing on here or google that convinces me ceramics will be ok. It seems its all about porcelain these days Eden Brae Drysdale 27 | The Blog Re: Is ceramic tiles still an ok option? 2Jul 01, 2013 8:36 pm Will the builder let you supply your own tiles and give you a credit for the ceramic tiles? It's far cheaper to buy porcelain tiles direct from a shop than it is to upgrade through the builder. The hardest thing is getting a quote from the tiler. or finding a tiler that we can trust. ive done some rough estimations and prob only save $1000 still not a big enough saving for us to be able to afford italian porcelain Eden Brae Drysdale 27 | The Blog Re: Is ceramic tiles still an ok option? 4Jul 13, 2013 1:32 pm Hi Ceramic tiles are great for wet areas (bathrooms and laundrys) I would suggest looking at a glazed porcelain for quality price and finish Glazed porcelain can offer strength, bigger sizes and range of finish and colours http://www.tilecraftpenrith.com.au http://www.facebook.com/TilecraftCeramicsPenrith Re: Is ceramic tiles still an ok option? 5Jul 14, 2013 2:41 pm Renski Are ceramic tiles really that bad. The quality of the laying is another thing We've had a variety of issues of both serious practical and minor aesthetic types but that goes for whatever you choose. Re: Is ceramic tiles still an ok option? 7Jul 20, 2013 11:38 pm Porcelain for sure. Ceramic tiles for feature tiles are ok, but general floor and wall tiles, porcelain tiles are much better looking and harder wearing. Don't discount Chinese made tiles, they are very high quality at a cheap price. They are more costly to install as they are harder to work with and require more skill to look good.
