Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 May 10, 2013 4:52 am Hi everyone. I'm.building a new house and am looking for done carpeting and tiling quotes. Tiling will probably be about 67m2 and need it tiles and installed. How much do people charge per m2? And.carpeting is about 35m2. I would like quite a good underlay but i have no clue how much it is per square metre and how much is it for installation per square metr. Any help would be much appreciated Re: Tiling and carpet quotes 2May 10, 2013 5:38 am Capet generally will start at around $15 m2 for cheaper end polypropylene and then steadily go up as you have better polypropylene carpets, then into nylon carpet, then into solution dyed nylon and Triexta (Smartstrand) carpets with wool carpets mixed into that upper middle cross section too. So carpet is $15 - $120 m2 depending on your taste and budget. Underlay ranges too of course, from about $5m2 for an inexpensive "builders" quality underlay right up to a luxurious 11mm premium underlay at $12 m2. Laying will usually be around $8 m2 in most cases, but can be a little bit more or less depending on the individual store you go to. We hope to see you in one of ours !!!! Re: Tiling and carpet quotes 3May 10, 2013 5:45 am As a footnote, something like the popular Smartstrand Classic, installed on Dunlop Cumulus Cloud 9 would be about $69 m2 (that's a fully installed carpet underlay laying included price). Just to give you an idea what most people spend on carpet, it's around about there give or take a few $. Just remember that you cannot buy m2 of carpet so you must work out how much carpet you need by working on its width being 3.6 metres, not by how many m2 nett your rooms are. Take your plan into your local Harvey Norman store and they will sort it out for you. So if my 3 rooms are 3.6m x 3.6m and then 2x rooms are 2.6m x 3.0m how much do i need to ask for? I'd be thinking.. 3.6 for the first 3 each. Then 2.6m each for the other two rooms (and there will be a 0.6m strip offcuts). So in total 16 broadloom metres. I may be wrong, but that's my understanding. Some carpets come in 4m widths now too. Brilliant for me as it means we can avoid any joins in all rooms. 2 Re: Tiling and carpet quotes 10May 12, 2013 8:21 am Megs25 it works on broadloom metres yeah? So if my 3 rooms are 3.6m x 3.6m and then 2x rooms are 2.6m x 3.0m how much do i need to ask for? 9.10 lineal or broadloom. X that by 3.6 to get your m2 for pricing. You allow 10cm on each cut for walls not bring square and so on, hence the 9.10. Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7443 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones.
