Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 22, 2013 4:43 pm Hi All, Just to add to all my confusion, all the carpet shops have a different take on which underlay we need. I know that conventional wisdom is to buy the best underlay that you can afford, but a couple of the carpet shops have said that the second best underlay they have is the better choice. The two foam underlays that people seems to be quoting are the Airstep Steplux (9mm 95kg/m3) or Stepmax (10mm 120kg/m3) or the Dunlop Equivalents Springtred Extra (9mm 95kg/m3) or Ultimate (10mm 120kg/m3). I'm assuming that the brand doesn't really matter between these two because they both seem to be fairly reputable, but would the 9mm 95kg underlay be much different to the 10mm 120kg underlay?
