Have 3 types of floor 4Apr 16, 2013 8:38 am Unfortunately if you don't want the scotia/quad edging all around the edges of the hard floors, you will need to have the skirting installed in two visits, because it obviously has to go down before the carpet. If you are happy to have scotia around the edging then just have it all done before any of the flooring is done. If not, you might find the people installing the hard floors will install the skirting for an extra fee. Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Install skirtings before or after? Have 3 types of floor 5Apr 16, 2013 9:44 am Why does skirting have be done before carpet? We only skirting main area not carpet areas but in curious Re: Install skirtings before or after? Have 3 types of floor 6Apr 16, 2013 12:23 pm someone else can hopefully explain it Leanne, but to me for a start it wouldn't look right having the carpet sitting under the edges of the skirting! Also, I guess there is the problem of ripping the carpet up if it ever needs to be replaced. Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Install skirtings before or after? Have 3 types of floor 7Apr 16, 2013 6:45 pm Id be interested to know as well. I wanted to add skirting to the house but our flooring is being done by the builder so would have to go in after the carpet is down, didn't even realise it might be an issue... Though we may not be able to afford it Re: Install skirtings before or after? Have 3 types of floor 8Apr 18, 2013 7:42 am all our skirting was done before tiling and carpets our carpenter asked us what rooms had carpet and what was having tiles and adjusted accordingly. i do not know if this is how things are normally done. but our tiles have been laid and the carpet next week, Re: Install skirtings before or after? Have 3 types of floor 10Apr 21, 2013 10:33 pm Hi Guys, I know this post might be a bit late but for future reference it might help others. I come from the flooring background. The skirting last with the bamboo as i dont like the look of scotia. Skirting first with the carpet, you can even have it installed with a small gap underneath so the carpet tucks under the skirting. You should check the height of the carpet first so you dont have to big a gap. In the vinyl plank area you could do either, better looking job if you install the vinyl planks first but when you want to replace them you will have the problem of the planks being under the skirting,a good installer should do a reasonable job if you decide to install the skirting first. hope this helps Matt I already have the doors and architraves installed as pictured. My question is which size n type of skirting would go with the architraves? I originally wanted a winder,… 0 3265 That's a fantastic result! Happy you got it sorted out. cheers Simeon 6 8646 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17061 |
