Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 21, 2008 9:06 pm Anyone have a solution? We're building with PD and want tiles to our kithen, dining, family and entry and want to do it ourselves (ie. a pro but not thru PD) but we want the tiles to match the wet areas that PD will be doing.
My thoughts so far are... tell PD we are happy for them not to do the tiling to the laundry and powder room (these flow through from the family/kitchen area) and will state so in our contract (is that possible or are they required to do all we areas for handover?) Anyone else experienced the same and what solutions did you come up with? Another question, how much should we expect to pay for laying of 50x50 porcelain tiles? Re: Want to do tiling ourselves but....!!!!!! 2Apr 21, 2008 10:13 pm Just be careful, as lack of some tiling to wet areas can stop you from getting an occupancy certificate. We had this issue wth our splashback, which delayed us a few weeks. Adrian B Re: Want to do tiling ourselves but....!!!!!! 4Apr 22, 2008 4:25 pm We had the same issue. PD use National Tiles. They did not allow us to get our own tiler because they need to do the wet areas (at minimum) in order to issue a proof of occupancy. We decided to do the whole house through them as the price was just as cheap if i were to get my own tiler in.
Unless you choose a tile from the National Tile range, you may find yourself with a problem. Expect to pay anywhere from $50-70 a square meter for porcelain tiles. Also dont forget you should also seal porcelain tiles which you need to pay extra for. Good luck and let us know how you go. Re: Want to do tiling ourselves but....!!!!!! 5Apr 22, 2008 7:34 pm Thanks snistr, we will def get tiles thru national tiles and actually have our tiles selection this monday. We've been to a few national tiles retail stores and found a porcelain tile that is now half price at $30/m. Wonder how much PD will charge us for it?....
If they don't charge us too much more we'll be happy to do the whole area with them. I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me. Our builder did the same. Got hundreds of thousands of dollars of… 2 15390 Sounds like rubbish to me. Ask for the contamination report which I doubt they have. If it's part of a normal subdivision it would have had a contamination report done… 9 5641 Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down. So i would recommend you follow your approved landscaping plans to… 4 10926 |
