Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Mar 02, 2013 6:53 pm Hi, just wondering if this is easily done? I am new to the whole process of building, so trying to figure out the best way to go as it might be more cost effective to lay the floating floor after handover. Are there any potential problems with this? Thanks in advance Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Anyone had floating bamboo laid post handover? 2Mar 04, 2013 5:14 pm All builders I've dealt with are happy for you to do this after handover. Make sure your builder leaves skirting boards off or softnails them on and kitchen kick boards off (where the bamboo is to be laid). Otherwise you'll need to use timber quad everywhere, it looks cheap and nasty. If you're having bamboo in the kitchen, you'll only have to worry about timber quad or another solution around the island bench. It's worth doing this, trust me. If you're spending good $$ on a timber floor, get it done properly. Re: Anyone had floating bamboo laid post handover? 3Mar 04, 2013 5:18 pm ok Marto, those tips are helpful. Would it look silly having the scotia around the island only though? I spent a couple of hours after the bamboo went down putting white silicone to fill the gaps... some were large gaps! Marto, I have seen some scotia that matches the skirting rather than the floor which looks ok to me... Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Anyone had floating bamboo laid post handover? 8Mar 04, 2013 7:16 pm I'd be happier to just use a minimal, squared quad around the island only. I think you can get away with it because its a separate fixture. Where you REALLY notice it is down complete hallway walls or long room walls. Cutting around the bottom of the island isn't an option for me as I have waterfall stone edges. This method could cause other issues... Beading? Re: Anyone had floating bamboo laid post handover? 9Mar 04, 2013 7:19 pm Marto, ok, the island suggestion is probably a better one.
