Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 25, 2013 6:24 pm Hi We constructing a double storey primarily as an investment. We still undecided if we should put tiles or laminate flooring on the ground floor. We have about 100 m2 of area that we are undecided, rest all upstairs and home theatre will be carpets. What has been your experience? Look forward to hearing your thoughts! Nonie Re: Investment property-tiles or laminate? What do u say.. 2Feb 27, 2013 1:13 pm Whilst Laminate is a good flooring for your own home, its not one I would recomend for a rental property. It does require a little care when it comes to water, so my recomendation is tiling. What do u say.. 3Feb 27, 2013 1:59 pm I agree with Michelle. If its a choice between tiles and laminate in a rental, tiles would be harder wearing. However if you are interested in wood look have a look at the new vinyls out, they are pretty amazing and very hardwearing. My mum has just put Kardean limed oak in an apartment she has for investment and I thought it was real wood. Re: Investment property-tiles or laminate? If I had a rental I would definitely consider a roll vinyl, even for my wet areas.
