I am looking forward to the conversation now! Re: question about newly laid carpet 23May 08, 2008 12:22 am OK so the events that lead to the outcome went like this:
I had a meeting with the installation company owner who immediatley agreed there was an issue with the carpet and agreed to have the manufacturer come out and inspect the line that appeared to be a join but wasn't a join. Yesterday I met with the manager from Victoria Carpets who arranged to meet me at 12:00. He arrived at 11:45 and whilst waiting for me (OMG a trade that is on time) he inspected the fault and on my arrival took me upstairs, explained the fault and how it occured and asked whether I wanted the carpet replaced or some monetary compensation???? WTF???? This is another dimension....no screaming, no kicking, no biting....they want to make me a happy customer. ![]() I go with the replacement please as the line looks ugly IMO and he rings me 10 minutes after he leaves, confirms they have some of the same batch of carpet still available, have authorised to replace the carpet by the installation company and hopes I have a nice day.... WTF???????????? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() OK...miniplug....VICTORIA CARPETS... excellent customer service above and beyond what I expected. Worth considering their range. Their 80/20 we got is excellent value for money. Paula Re: question about newly laid carpet 28May 09, 2008 8:37 pm ![]() If the line was not a seam, what was it? ![]() Ash. On the inside of carpet rolls it is not uncommon to get a pole mark - where the end of the carpet and the first run around the core overlap. This in usually 200-300mm from the end and normally comes out after a few days. The mark on the picture was further into the roll. I have seen faults where the tufting machine has faltered/hiccuped/stopped that looked like joins. Even a join in the jute backing will show through the top of the carpet. What was the rep's explanation for the marks? Re: question about newly laid carpet 29May 10, 2008 12:35 am Sorry guys!
It was HF123 ... a stop line! This is apparently where the machine pauses in one spot for a moment too long and creates an uneven line in the threading. It is not uncommon and usually is not as noticable.... Hello, Just want to check how was your experience so far with your allcastle home newly built house.
