Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 20, 2013 12:14 am Thinking of putting charcoal polished porcelain tiles in the living areas and hall areas in our new house but am wondering if I will regret it? I love the look of them but I guess I'm mostly concerned about showing dust/dirt/footprints. Although on the other hand, I think all polished tiles show more marks than matt tiles, but I've heard that they are a lot easier to clean. I realise I'll need to mop more frequently but I don't want to end up hating them... Have you got glossy charcoal tiles? Do you love/hate them? Or do you know anyone with them? Photos would be very appreciated!!! Thanks My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65324&p=1032514#p1032514 Re: Glossy Charcoal floor tiles... do you/would you have the 2Feb 12, 2013 1:19 am Hi there! Yes, porcelain tiles (glossy) will show more marks. The light ones will show more dirt while the dark will probably look more like smeared. does that make sense? So even if they aren't necessarily dirty, put your hand on the tile and you will leave a print. My mom has white porcelain ones in her house and she is forever cursing them! I guess it all depends...... Do you have pets, children? I hav two white long haired cats so obviously a dark colour is out of the question for me. Even if they are easier to clean (I can't imagine why), you will be cleaning them more often, especially if you're a neat freak, so it probably evens out. Personally I wouldn't go there. Maybe in the bathrooms, but it's up to you. Do you love them enough? We chose the charcoal gloss tiles and have had our tiling done now. We haven't been out to the house lately, so don't have an updated picture. Here is a picture of most of the tiling done. It isn't the best lighting and as you can see it is very dirty. I still worry about keeping them clean but I guess I would have the same issues if I had a very light colour also. Just wondering what colour kitchen do you have ? How about the dinning table ? I have been been warned against timber dining table on Charcoal Tiles. Are you going for timber or glass table ? Please do post the pics once you are moved in and all furniture is set. Thanks, Re: Glossy Charcoal floor tiles... do you/would you have the 6Jun 05, 2013 3:43 pm They look great when dirty so I can just imagine how they will look cleaned. If you use a neutral cleaner to clean your floors all should be good as neutral cleaners leave no streaks behind and helps in stopping marks etc. Hi All, I am looking to go with tiles instead of laminate timber flooring throughout my living areas for my new build (Ashbury 29 - Henley).
