Personally...I'd just take the draw of cash.....

But seriously....not that Ash needs affirmation 'cos he's an expert in this area...but the carpet in our current study, has always been protected with a mat, cleaned, looked after....and it's the area of carpet which looks, not terrible ,but certainly more "used" than say the kids bedrooms.

I'm not a fan of those mats either. Ugly things!

Suggest you don't build cabinetry on top of carpets. If you choose to keep the carpets that are there, lift them, have cabinets fitted, then refit carpets up to the cabinets.

Regarding the Interface carpets being dif to the rest of the house, really, it is an office. People (except for me

) don't go around looking at your floors. They tend to be a background that most people don't even notice. Its not reasonable to want this room to harmonise with the decor in the rest of the house. It is a purposeful room, and needs to be fitted out purposefully.
