Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 41Dec 10, 2012 7:56 pm Love your kitchen! We have ended up going with the vinyl planks, it's only costing us about $1200 more then the tiles the builder was providing. While it is a bit we went with some of the more expensive ones and I've had a sample on our floor and I thik it looks more like wood flooring then most the laminates I've seen! Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 42Dec 10, 2012 8:53 pm Its cost me another $1,000 to level the slab for the vinyl an added cost I wasn't expecting since I told the builder I needed a smooth slab. The installer placed a board across the floor & showed me the floor level go up & down. Once glued what is on the slab shows up in the vinyl when laid. A big expense but worth all the money when its done right. Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 43Dec 10, 2012 8:53 pm Which brand colour did you end up going with fmac? We are still undecided and it's doing my head in lol Slab Poured 30/05/12 Lower Floor Plate High 20/08/12 Upper Floor & Wall Framing 30/08/12 Roof 14/09/12 Lock-Up 13/12/12 Yee haaaaa WE ARE IN & I HAVE A NEW IPHONE Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 44Dec 10, 2012 9:06 pm In our current house was have Explona superplanks in Honey Oak For new house we've chosen Tarkett in Soft Oak Brown Both were/will be done through Carpet Court Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 45Dec 10, 2012 9:27 pm oneness, Novalis is the actual brand of the vinyl planks we used. As for the colour, it's this one here: http://www.masters.com.au/product/90000 ... ks-16-pack Built the Gerbera 2500 (Burbank Homes) in Cairnlea Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 46Dec 10, 2012 9:56 pm Ours are by karndean in classic oak. You can order samples from the website. We didn't look into many brands as they were the ones that the flooring place the builder deals with had. Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 47Dec 10, 2012 10:38 pm Just wondering fmac...of the 3 board samples on page one of your own thread which one is classic oak? Bottom left? Yes I know about the samples they offer...I think i have just about ordered every one but a 6 inch square does not really give a complete picture as to what they look like in a larger area...I think I might need to borrow some sample boards from the carpet shops and bring home overnight or something...It's an expensive decision to get wrong! I'll be honest I don't remember which is which. I really loved the summer oak but it was more expensive then the classic oak and they are a similar colour though. The Wellington oak was a little too orange for my liking. We spent ages at the flooring place grabbing them out and putting them all over the floor. Our kitchen is all white so our flooring shouldn't clash... Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 49Dec 10, 2012 11:09 pm Thanks for your replies fmac I will check the classic oak out at the retailers...sounds encouraging as we are having all white kitchen as well (well new basmati top but polar white cupboards) Slab Poured 30/05/12 Lower Floor Plate High 20/08/12 Upper Floor & Wall Framing 30/08/12 Roof 14/09/12 Lock-Up 13/12/12 Yee haaaaa WE ARE IN & I HAVE A NEW IPHONE Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 50Dec 10, 2012 11:55 pm Happy to help, sometimes all the choice makes it even more difficult! We have polar white with Crystal chalk top, loved the new basmati but we are having it in the bathroom as well and thought the chunks in it might be a little too large. Really do love the new basmati though! Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 51Dec 11, 2012 8:53 am We all must have similar taste cause my new kitchen will be polar white & new basmati hehe Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 53Dec 11, 2012 5:32 pm Got a sneak peak at my new flooring up the hallway this afternoon, karndean autumn oak in Art select range. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/21372568/IMG-2 ... -00095.jpg Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 54Dec 11, 2012 6:02 pm Nice. Did you do skirting before or after? We trying decide what we gonna do Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 55Dec 11, 2012 6:09 pm I was told by choices flooring that skirting was fine installed its only for bamboo flooring & other types of wood that must be done after. Which is good in a way as builders will tell you that they will not have the carpenter come back just to do skirtings after the floors. Usually you are left with having to do yourself. Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 56Dec 11, 2012 6:13 pm Love the floor! Can't wait to see ours, still about 6 months off that happening. This does make me feel much better about our choice. Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 57Dec 11, 2012 6:44 pm My house doesn't come with skirting. It's something we have get someone in, or do ourselves Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 59Dec 11, 2012 7:03 pm We don't get skirting either! We noticed it actually isn't in that many displays Re: Tile, wood laminate or vinyl planks 60Dec 11, 2012 8:44 pm rosewood are you in WA??
