Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 07, 2012 11:33 pm Hello all, I am planning to reno our 3 bed apartment. We want to to finish it in a very modern style. Do you think parquetry is too old fashioned? I was looking at some parquetry and it looked interesting. Do you think they can be used in a modern house? most of the very modern houses seem to have Tiles and or timber ( often a very light coloured timber.) Thank you R Re: Parquet/ Timber or Tiles for a very modern apartment? 2Sep 14, 2012 8:40 pm I think parquetry is a bit old fashioned plus its very busy. But you could do a paquetry feature. I work for a timber flooring company and we have done things like just putting paquetry in the entry & then normal timber flooring through the rest of the house. Or having normal timber through the house but with a parquetry border around it. Also wide board timber is really in at the moment & what a lot of people are using in more modern homes. If you want some more advice and are located in Melbourne please feel free to call us on 03 9723 0206. Hope this helped. Gail Floored By Perfection Hi - thanks for your reply.
