Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 06, 2012 5:04 pm Hi , I need help as I plan to lay polished porcelian tiles 600x600 post handover. Kitchen ppl confirmed the benchtop hight would be 920mm from slab. Within that measurement there is approximately a 20mm flooring allowance, so the benchtop will be at approx. 900mm from finished floor level. Would 20mm be enough to lay the porclean tiles ? What is the thickness of 600x600 tile? As tiler have to screed the slab before laying the tiles. Is 20mm safe to go ahead? Kitchen ppl charging me around 1500$ to increase the hight of benchtop. Re: Kitchen Benchtop Hight for Porcelian tiles 2Aug 09, 2012 4:42 pm With a 600x600 floor tiles you are looking at approx10-12mm. Allow 5-6mm of adhesive once it is compressed. The screed thats a tricky one. It depends if the floor at that point is a high or low point, also depends on what you are levelling the floor with. You may need to talk to your tiler if he is using a sand cement mix or some form of self levelling compound that can be featherd out.' Hard to give you a definitive answer sorry.
