Are you a contractor? not full time. i work on wages for a family owned indpendent shop, becuase i lay 3 - 4 days a week and organise our warehouse the other few days. I'd rather lay full time but theres just not enough work in bathurst, 5 carpet shops for 30 000 people is too much ! but i recently saw a shop in melbourne advertising for layers.. and there work is new houses only! so i may be a contractor in melbourne soon Southies I'll have to check my plans & get back to you on that, thanks no worries, and i'd be more than happy to drive to the beach for some work anyway Re: Proper carpet laying 46Oct 17, 2008 7:20 pm steveo247 Southies I'll have to check my plans & get back to you on that, thanks no worries, and i'd be more than happy to drive to the beach for some work anyway I'll remember that Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Proper carpet laying 48Oct 17, 2008 7:52 pm steveo247 if you wanted to scan the plan i could measure it for ya Now why didn't I think of that , though won't be able to do it until Monday. I have a rough quote for carpet, which includes underlay and installation, including stairs:
(51 metres) with April Moods @ $165 = $8565 inc stair labour Do you think this sounds reasonable? Judie Re: Proper carpet laying 52Oct 18, 2008 4:41 pm 51 metres sure is a nice sized house
labour for the steps should be around $5 per step above the normal laying rate included in the price of the carpet. $165 a metre sounds like a good price, the only thing i cant tell is the quality of the carpet. If you give me the brand and style of the carpet we might have it at my shop i could find out if its decent quality! or if you tell me what style you like i could reccomend some carpets that are good value. Becuase 51 metres is alot of carpet, the carpet shop will get a good price from the carpet manufacturer so $165 sounds good ! edit - being such a good sized house id be more than happy to check your plans for the correct amount of metres ! Unfortunately, I forgot to mark the areas to be carpetted onto the plan before I scanned it , which would have made this exercise easier for you.
Anyway, the areas to be carpetted are : Ground floor : Multi room & lounge room 1st floor : All 4 beds & their robes, rumpus & master WIR Thanks for the offer to calculate the carpetted area. Anytime is fine. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll235/radinovic_bucket/floorplan2.jpg[/img] Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Let me know if you'd rather I upload the links instead. Actually tdl, my husband had to explain to me what the PRINT SCREEN function was & how it worked. I've just learned something new, thanks to you. Very grateful Re: Proper carpet laying 60Oct 25, 2008 7:35 pm steveo247 do you know anything about a carpet called "lancaster ridge"?
I've no idea who makes it sorry as we only popped into a store to get a feel for what we both liked. We are considering it for our home office ( 6m x 6m) the quote we were given was 2166 including underlay and laying. We actually called in to a carpet place today after visiting the supplier for our cork so we could get a cork quote and thought we'd get an idea of the type of carpet DH and I could agree on for the house. As a rough guide we've ended up with a quote for 3 different carpet types within the house all in very separate areas. something called "mayfair" to the minor bedrooms ( 3 of) ($2698) poly... the "lancaster ridge" for the office ($2166 ) nylon and "affirmed" for the lounge ($1500 )and main bedroom/wir ($1969) I think this was a wool. We aren't really sold on the exact carpet for our bedroom but it gave us a starting idea of budget. so our starting budget is $8333 Our cork is going to cost us just over 11k. for 123 or so sq m supplied and laid. We've ended up getting ti for about $95 a square m because we've want so much of it. Which is pretty good considering the standard rate is around 104 sq m. I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1921 Hey There. No problems re jumping in. My original question was "should I have waterproofed" the concrete slab before putting batons down. We have been told we should… 7 4322 1 10974 |
