Re: German Limestone Tiles 2May 24, 2012 9:28 am Limestone is a natural stone that needs up keep as it is a soft stone and if polished may require honing and repolishing if damaged by scratches or acids down the track. If maintained in the proper way than can look great for years. Porcelains which are man made are a stronger bodied tile and no repolishing will ever need to be done. The maintenance on these tiles is very easy to deal with and you will not be up for thousands of dollars in the future to keep it looking great. IMO I would go with a porcelain tiles any day as I have seen to many limestone floors look terrible after just 2 years. Simple test pour on some red cordial or beetroot juice wipe up and if it stains than sealing may help hence may help. I know many tile shops and tilers who will say sealing is the way to go and I agree BUT only if it is porous like concrete.
