I'm on the cusp of ordering Smartstrand Silk but I feel that it has been sold to me by the reviews (and your salesmanship!) not necessarily by the instore rep. I wasn't able to come away with much more info than I walked in there with but I figured you're a font of knowledge so... I know it should come down to personal preference but are there any practical advantages or disadvantages to consider when choosing between Cozy Comfort and Gentle Essence? Also, I couldn't get the actual carpet thickness measurement from the store or the Mohawk website. Can you advise the thickness of these piles on 11mm Cumulus underlay and recommend the height the doors should be set above the sub-floor? I'm not sure whether the doors should drag on the carpet or totally clear the pile. Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 85Sep 12, 2012 8:25 pm There is no difference at all in terms of quality. Both are 65 ounce. However, Gentle Essence is shorter and more dense, whereas Cozy Comfort is taller and so trades off in terms of density. One is simply more shaggy than the other so it's a personal preference. Both have the same warranties so you are protected the same either way. In respect to height, your Cozy Comfort wil list at around 30mm in finished height on the Cumulus underlay +/- 1mm. So you can set your door height at say 32mm to 33mm from the subfloor and you will have a great finish. Silk Classic is a 40 ounce version of the Smartstrand Silk - same great fibre, same warranties, just made lower for those people who want the softness of the Silk, but don't want the thickness and height of the heavy weight products. Priced at only $49 m2, it will be very popular. If you have seen the Silk before and loved the feel of it, but thought it is too thick, or that it was more than your budget, then this is the carpet for you. Does anyone know if softe comes only in shaggy pile? To the best of our knowledge, Smartstrand Silk is one of the softest, if not the softest carpet in the world. It's important to note that unlike other lesser fibres, Smartstrand Silk, made with 37% renewable resources (triexta) also comes with a Lifetime Stain Resistance Warranty and a 25 Year Wear Warranty, so that whilst it is soft, it will also keep looking good longer than other carpets made from fibres such as nylon or polyster. What is the price of the classic fully installed with cumulus 9 per sq metre please? Do you know the finished floor height? Is colour range the same as gentle essence? Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 90Oct 18, 2012 6:44 pm Classic is $52 m2 plus about $8 m2 for laying plus between $8 and $10 m2 for underlay. The finished height will be around 22mm to 27mm depending on underlay (around 27mm for Cumulus). Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 93Oct 29, 2012 9:03 pm nobl HN, I didn't have time to read through the entire thread, but is it possible to buy this "best carpet in Australia" and use it as a rug? Would I need to get a special backing material to stop it from fraying etc? Would my local HN do that for me? I need a rug for each room... Sure. We do that for people every week ! The overlooked edges stop it from fraying. Although you can get a special back to protect the floor if you are putting it on carpet, but if on tiles or timber, it's fine as it is. Is it here yet? Is it here yet? Thanks! ETA - Just saw the thread further down re the Redbook available in WA! ETA again - I liked the idea of the HN one due to the dog pee stain warranty! Just checking to see if the others have similar! Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 95May 26, 2013 5:24 pm We just purchased this carpet (Gentle Essence) for our new home build during the Harvey Norman sale plus with 23 months interest free. I hadn't even heard of this carpet until today (we had another brand in mind) but after trying it today, nothing even comes close. This carpet is seriously like walking on a cloud. Also - any sign of a retailer in WA as yet? Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 98Sep 05, 2013 7:12 am dexx In terms of stain resistance and ease of cleaning, is there a difference between 'Smartstrand Silk Classic' and 'Smartstrand Classic'? No. Same warranty. The difference is that one is softer than the other, that's all. The "Silk" refers to the softness of the yarn. Even though it is the same fibre, the silk is created with thinner fibres but more of them to make it softer. Same durability, same stain resistance. Both are great carpets Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 100Oct 13, 2013 7:38 am Wow its sounds like a great stainproof carpet. Do you recommend profession cleaning.
