I am a full time member on the carpet cleaners forum here in Australia and there are no members on there that would agree with your statement at all. We have cleaned smartstrand with water only and the results were a disgrace. I invite you to come out and clean a smartstrand carpets with one of our members so you can see what we are talking about. We are seeing an increase of issues with this carpet and I think it would be best for you to see this yourself instead of reading a glossy brochure or website. Independent surveys such as the Brandware Research study have found that 9 out of 10 Smartstrand owners say they would buy Smartstrand again. These are the facts as presented by the survey and its hard to disagree. Smartstrand carpets clean off most general household stains with ease and no harsh chemicals are required. Chemicals would only be required with the most stubborn of stains. The warranty guide provides solutions to each stain type. With one of Australia’s biggest retailers supporting the significant warranties which come with Smartstrand you are assured peace of mind so take the time to visit a store and even request a sample to take and test for yourself. I've spent some time with teaching other carpet cleaners, even one of HN's recommended cleaners, and working through the issues that exist with wicking, and oil bound soiling. It is true that this carpet can't be stained, but it can be soiled. There is a difference! Soils are bound to carpets, predominately by body and food oils, fats and greases. In a nutshell, the trick with cleaning triexta is remove to remove dry soils, use a very good oil emulsifier, and get them dry very quickly. The reason I love this carpet is that it is durable, soft, can't be dye stained, and if you know how to clean it, comes up looking amazing each clean. After getting my head around cleaning it, I've been recommending it to friends and family, some of who have spent the extra money and are very happy with their purchase. The stuff about not needing chemicals to clean it is only half true. You can use water to rinse most dye stains out of it. But just like a Teflon coated fry pan, you need some detergent to clean it. Fats/oils/grease do not interface with water without at least some detergent. HN's user guide to cleaning it specifies numerous chemicals, and HN themselves recommend a carpet spotter they sell - which is also a chemical. I'm also happy to post some pictures of SmartStrand traffic lane soiling, which shows that just like any normal carpet, traffic lanes will get filthy and will require professional carpet cleaning with chemicals. Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 132Sep 17, 2014 4:53 pm Hi HN Flooring Team, Is it possible to start a thread on the Lamett range of laminate flooring you guys have available? Im looking at buying the XXL Classica boards to floor the majority of my newly built home. As its a huge decision it would be great if you guys would take an interest in providing me more info on the product compared to the german made option being Parador. Thanks Re: The greatest carpet in the world has arrived in OZ ! 133Sep 22, 2014 10:34 am Grout Perfect Thanks Phil good to know. May help others in making a decision. Phil is it worth the extra thousands though. Would love your thoughts on this? Hi Grout Perfect (Craig?), Your suggestion regarding dark cut pile wool and nylon carpet is definitely sensible, and I don't necessarily disagree. We've both been in the game long enough to see dark colours hide soiling and traffic lane greying better than light colours, and the resilience of wool and nylon looking pretty good, even after YEARS of use. There is a saying that good carpets ugly out long before they wear out. The biggest problems I see with wool and nylon carpet are, traffic lane greying out due to fibre abrasion, coloured dye staining and bleach marks. The dark colouring covers two of these issues, but it doesn't deal with bleach marks. I'm not sure about you, but I'm one of the very few tech's around that can actually re-colour bleach spots http://www.mightyclean.com.au/SpotDyeingSydney.html but there are very few of us around, and sometimes the extent is beyond rectification - particularly where the home owner or tenant has sprayed an oxi-type laundry cleaner around the place. The other issue is that dark colours don't suit a lot of people's décor. The reason nylon has typically been a hit with the consumer is it's wide range of colour availability. SmartStrand IQ gives the consumer wide colour range options without the fear. Let's face it, most people would love light/white carpet (it's so neutral), but are scared of permanent staining. Only time will tell how well Triexta performs in traffic lanes with respect to fibre abrasion, and pile crush. The fact that it stood up to Rhino's, although very gimmicky in some respects, tends to indicate that it will perform well under foot traffic. I'd like to see how the fibre performed after some aggressive sand blasting though, or how it cleaned up after a few weeks in a mechanics work shop Phil M.
