Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 15, 2012 10:10 am Hi, We are in the middle of some fairly major reno's at the moment and have hit a small hurdle. On the advice of our builder we removed some internal feature brick walls to make the living area more open plan. The area is great, but the gaps in the tiled floor are proving interesting to fix. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The house is 25+ years old and we have had no luck trying to find a similar tile to fill the gaps. We have had a look at mosaics and they seem hideously expensive. I have suggested to my wife that if we can't find a "close match" to try to hide the repair that we go for something completely different and try to make it a feature. There is approximately 70sqm of tiled floor in this area so we are looking at a repair of $400-500 vs a complete re-tile of $4000-5000. Any advice appreciated. Cheers Re: Tiling dilemma 2Apr 18, 2012 1:50 pm I am sure you will be able to find some cheap mosaics somewhere, they also sell the longer strip tiles unsure what they are called but they look like natural stone. Go to all the tile shops and see what they have around you never know. Craig Re: Tiling dilemma 3Apr 19, 2012 6:33 pm Hi Craig, Thanks for the reply. We had a look at a few tile shops, but any remotely interesting mosaics were at least 5 times more expensive than "normal" tiles. After a bit of searching, my wife grabbed some tiles and we had the gap in the floor cut a little bit wider to come up with this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Just waiting for the grout to go in. The wife is happy, which means I can sleep at night. Cheers Damien Re: Tiling dilemma 4Apr 19, 2012 9:24 pm Wow! You work fast!
