Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering Re: Porcelain tiles - Urgent need 21Mar 30, 2012 1:33 pm It cost us $14,000 to have the tiles supplied and laid by the builder ... in hindsight we should have done it after the build - would have got a better job for a much better price. I think it's about 85 square metres. For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Porcelain tiles - Urgent need 22Apr 02, 2012 8:42 am Oh! Now i do not know what i am doing. We bought tiles yesterday form TFO. Roughly It was $1800 for 75 SQM. $22 for SQM. I confirmed everything i learnt and all the rest depends on my luck now. Tile guy said it seems fine to him. 1st quality and all. TFO guy said optical hazing is only 1 to 2% only. He suggested to stand when tiles are getting laid and turn them around to change reflection. The installation quote is between $4500 and $6000 with screeding. The total still is not more than $8000..... Is it something wrong? Well i see clearly if i buy tiles for $60 SQM, it will go higher. but i am not missing anything ... am I? Re: Porcelain tiles - Urgent need 23Apr 02, 2012 8:47 am No ... it all sounds good - you've done well - we just got "ripped off"!! Just check them when they are laid but it sounds like they will be fine ... Re: Porcelain tiles - Urgent need 24Apr 02, 2012 1:08 pm Cool then Mclaren.. I will post photos. Thank you all Re: Porcelain tiles - Urgent need 25Apr 07, 2012 9:37 am PHL - You do not develop colour over various layers. Texture can also be introduce on a glazed surface. The most realistic look in tile to natural stone is doing using glazing. Look at my site and with glazing you can imiate stone, timber, steel, even graffiti in a new range. This is not done over developing layers, it is done as part of the glaze. Cheers Re: Porcelain tiles - Urgent need 26Apr 08, 2012 11:24 am Zedman PHL - You do not develop colour over various layers. Cheers I agree, when new, there will be absolutely no difference. Until it chips; then it looks like a tile, whereas if there is depth, you still get the veining through it. Re: Porcelain tiles - Urgent need 27Apr 28, 2012 10:08 am No that is not correct. There is no "depth" to the vein print. Even on a vitrified tile, most that have any movement(pattern on them) are double charged. The top layer is thicker than a glaze but it is not all the way through - it is also not as detailed a print (i.e does not look as realistic to the product it is imitating) . The most important thing is that once you chip any tile, you introduce a cavity. Unless you get on your hands and knees and clean it out it will build up with dirt from moping and cleaning. It will not be the same colour as the biscuit once this occurs. So id you buy a vitrified tile yes you will see the similar colour....but for how long. Now a glazed tile which has a much more detailed print on it will hide this in the movement of the tile surface. I have been importing and retailing both fro 15yrs...for domestic applications give me a quality glazed tile any day. Cheers Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3259 Render your bathroom walls, two opinions versus the one, makes you wonder. 3 6057 thanks Chippy, i hope they have applied sealer but i am doubt to be honest, so i am gonna do this job after handover. 8 16268 |
