Would there be interest in what is referred to as a "hand scrapped" finish where the surface of each plank had been literally hand scrapped to create highs and lows ? Or does everyone still prefer the flat "perfect" finish ? Or does everyone still prefer the flat "perfect" finish ? We've just had ARC Bamboo Brushed Mocha installed (distressed look).. So much better than the flat look you're referring to, especially if you're after that antique/rustic look Re: Is timber or bamboo the preferred floor these days ? 24Apr 05, 2012 9:45 am How about bamboo with high gloss, I am getting mixed messages from different suppliers etc obviously promoting their preferred supplier. I really like the gloss one as we have small areas so I feel the reflection gives the perception of a larger room. Yet one retailer say gloss is hard to mark while another who doesnt stock gloss says it marks easily. Any idea's and has anyone had bamboo floors down for at least a few months and seen any issues? Also, I see price ranges from $35sqm (ebay) to $140sqm uninstalled. Not sure what to make of all this. Cheers Chris Re: Is timber or bamboo the preferred floor these days ? 25Apr 05, 2012 9:53 am We've had bamboo down for 4 months now. Looks great and is very easy to clean. Only issue we have is ours is relatively high gloiss and if you walk around bare foot you leave prints all over. Is timber or bamboo the preferred floor these days ? 27Jun 12, 2012 1:27 am HN Flooring Team What if there was an amazingly realistic laminate floor that this author, with over 20 years experience in flooring was fooled by this week in domotex Shanghai (ie we thought it was real wood). ? On close inspection, running your hands over it, looking at the boards from various perspectives and everything.....we couldn't tell the difference until we looked at it side on...it was next to the real timber and you couldn't tell where it transitioned from one to another.......now what if that was available to Australian customers ? Would it tempt you ? Ummmm, YES! Please tell us more. Re: Is timber or bamboo the preferred floor these days ? 28Jun 12, 2012 5:49 am Only a few weeks to go and it will be here MissyP. It's named "Vintage" and is a European Oak style of floor with features and knots in it, just like a century old European Oak floor in an old home in Paris (for example). Vintage is a developing trend worldwide and is slowly picking up speed in Australia. It will be a very popular trend in Australia too in coming months and years. It has a lifetime warranty and is 12mm thick. Priced at $39.95m2, it will be a big seller. It's made by the same company who are known for the legendary Timber Impressions longboards. They are usually the first to market with the latest innovations and them copies start turning up later, just as everyone copies the Timber Impressions 2.26 mtr long high gloss Timber Impressions. Stay tuned as it is a stunning floor with a good pedigree and will be an instant hit as soon as it arrives. We will advise here the day it is shipped to stores so you can check it out ! The Chadstone store (not Chadstone shopping centre) which is the flagship store in Melbourne will have the full range by Thursday guaranteed. They are open until 9pm Thursday & Friday evenings. If Chadstone is too far, please call your local store first to make sure the displays are up as the product may still not have been cut to size and put on the displays yet. You'll love it !
