A friend of mine is looking at putting spotted gum floorboards in their house, but hasn't seen many pictures of them installed in real houses, can anyone share their photos?
Also anyone got the wide board ones (130mm)?
Thanks!

It's gorgeous to look at, we regularly receive compliments on it from visitors. It's also a really hard timber, my young kids & labrador give our floors an absolute beating but it's still dent free. Thanks! We've used Boral solid, tongue & groove flooring, it's '"Classic Grade" 85mm wide & 19mm thick. Also FYI, it's been laid on battens, secret nailed & finished with tung oil Building our custom design "Dream Home" Follow my Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46820 Contract Signed - 28/04/11 Siteworks Commenced - 20/06/11 Re: Spotted Gum floorboard pictures 14Mar 12, 2012 8:14 pm Regarding Spotted Gum there is some distinct difference between Qld and NSW Spotted Gum with the QLD version (from Southern Qld and Northern NSW) tending to be darker. As for cleaning the floor only ever use water or water with a small dash of vinegar. You could also use the cleaning products that come with the brand of finish if you know it. Definitely don't introduce a 3rd party cleaning product. The idea behind this is that when your floor comes to need a refresh you only need to do a maintenance coat (light buff and recoat) and you will have no danger of rejection. Re: Spotted Gum floorboard pictures 15Mar 16, 2012 12:57 pm Hi, I have been using warm water and vinegar. Ive been told by the sanding guy and a few others to use metho but it just worrys me using some so harsh. The floor has been coming up pretty good with vinegar. We recently had about 80sqm of Spotted Gum select grade laid and it cost $190 per square metre. Will add some pics but you will notice it is a lot lighter than some of the previously posted ones. I recall someone saying it was darker in QLD so as we live south of Sydney I gather this explains the golden tones. Roughly in order of importance Source of Timber City of installation Size of rooms Subfloor preparation Type of coating That is a very loose guide, but considering those variables for a residential floor with a solid hardwood floor supplied, installed and finished you are probably looking at somewhere between $160 per sqm and $240 per sqm.
