Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 09, 2012 11:26 pm Hi All, We are about to sign our build contract with homestead SA to build in the Field River Estate, Trott Park. I have been trolling this forum and come across some fantastic looking polished concrete floors. I have a meeting with the sales person on Saturday (Who has been awesome so far) and was wondering if anyone can give me some insight as to what price range we should expect this to come in at. I understand there are many variables like size colours etc but I am only after a rough price. As this would be done during the build and not retro fitted is it cheaper ? I am not even sure if they will let us have it as i have not asked but i am sure they can be persuaded Thanks Lab. Re: Polished Concrete done during build - Ideas on cost ? 2Feb 10, 2012 12:37 am I recall researching this and I can no longer recall the costs, but I remember it was over $100/sqm Re: Polished Concrete done during build - Ideas on cost ? 3Feb 10, 2012 7:29 am Thanks theanonyuser, was that on top of the slap charges ? Thanks Re: Polished Concrete done during build - Ideas on cost ? 4Feb 18, 2012 10:04 pm Sorry was overseas. As far as I know that's assuming you have concrete there, so yes its the extra... Re: Polished Concrete done during build - Ideas on cost ? 5Feb 19, 2012 2:09 pm We also loved the look of polished concrete and were going to do it for our patio and living room. I can't remember the exact pricing, but we researched doing it ourselves (hiring the polishing machine etc.) and got a quote from the building company (Masterton at the time). It was about 12 months ago but it ended up being cheaper to lay tiles. We have chosen concrete looking tiles in the end. Re: Polished Concrete done during build - Ideas on cost ? 7Feb 27, 2012 5:14 pm Blacklab - if you go polished concrete then that is what they do the slab with. We were told the following costs for basic concrete with blue pyrenees stone we were quoted a little over $25m2 (so this is the very industrial look that supermarkets etc go for), the highest cost (for nicer stones) was about $39m2. This does not include adding colour to the mix, we have added colour to ours but I don't have the m2 cost for that sorry. We ended up compromising, and making several rooms (laundry, bathroom, ensuite etc) tiles to help cut down on costs. This way they only poured the expensive concrete over some of the slab, and normal concrete over the rest. Looked quite funny too! Good luck making your selection Re: Polished Concrete done during build - Ideas on cost ? 8Feb 27, 2012 11:27 pm Thanks all for the replies and information. I have requested a price from the builder, hopefully i will have this back late this week.
