Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 29, 2012 7:32 pm Hi, I have about 160sqm of space that I want tiled. I have already bought the 600mm x 600mm polished porcelain tiles & want to know what's a reasonable price that tilers charge. It's a brand new house, so the tiles will be laid onto a concrete slab. Also, some people say it's best to glue them down & others recommend sand & cement...who's right? Does anybody know how much Tilers charge ? 2Feb 06, 2012 9:37 pm Most I have spoken to have quoted around $40-$60 m2. Not sure which adhesive is better though. If you have extra budget, then go for screeding. My friend has 45sq home and it costs her $7K just to lay the polished porcelain. Re: Does anybody know how much Tilers charge ? 4Feb 07, 2012 6:42 pm If a tiler quoted me only $60m2 to install Polished Porcelain without asking me lots of questions & wanting a site visit, then I would run away very quickly. To install any rectified product properly is going to cost money. If you have a concrete slab its likely to need a grind & level, you need to use good quality, non slump adhesive with a 12mm trowel & back buttering, make sure they clean & prime before they start, make sure they use the right grout to avoid scratches. I would also recommend that the tiler is using the Tuscan, Lash or any similar levelling system to avoid lippage. To do it all properly is going to cost more than $60 & closer to $100m2 or more. Remember, Generally You get what you pay for..... If not they would be forced to issue you a variation which you could of course object to. 12 25868 I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe.
