Please 3Jan 18, 2012 7:26 pm Hi live2dream, Vinyl flooring is the fastest growing trend at all the trade shows in Europe and America right now. It's going through a renaissance of sorts and this is a lot to do with improved technology and design with the actual product itself. You can get PVC flooring in a wide variety nowadays and at every price point. For domestic use, you can choose from; 3 or 4 mtr wide sheet vinyl in designs ranging through metals, woods, stones, modern and antique looking. We call it V Floor and it's very popular. Pricing will start as low as $23m2 and installation will depend on your sub floor type. Allure Grip. This is a floating PVC floor that comes in strips that have a grip strip built into each. You simply overlap each plank and press together ! Without the need for underlay, they are a time and money saver. You'll be looking at around $49m2 to $59m2 depending on the range and design. By the way, it's so tough that it comes with a life time wear warranty ! Installation costs vary from state to state, but it IS super DIY friendly - ask for a demo in one of the stores, you'll be amazed Allure Lock. This is the latest Allure product and Clicks just like laminates, timbers and bamboo floors do. It's thicker than Allure Grip and is a breeze to lay thanks to its Uniclic clicking system. It comes in both timber and stone designs and is equally DIY friendly, although it can be installed for you of course. Like Allure Grip, it doesn't require any underlay; indeed, it lay straight over standard tiles! You'll buy this product for $59m2. Lastly, Amtico produce a fantastic range of traditional PVC planks and tiles that cover a wide spectrum of designs including stones, ceramics, woods, glass, steel and abstract. They start at $39m2 and go all the way up to $139m2 for the top of the range commercial heavy duty range. Used by architects and designers in the United States, Europe and here in Australia, Amtico is a trusted and well known brand. They require similar installation methods to that of the sheet vinyl in that wooden sub floors require Masonite, concrete floors must be level and in good condition. Each tile or plank is glued to the floor. What was the name of the product you liked ? We are happy to provide you with more information on it. I do not remember the product name I liked except it was vinyl exclusively for Harvey Norman only (as sales man told us that the same qaulity in other brand he mentioned would be around $115 sqpm) and xmas sale price was $57 or $59 Sqpm. Any idea? I would need something tough for sure as I would have two kids running bike on them Re: Vinyl flooring - any advise ? suggestions? Any idea? I would need something tough for sure as I would have two kids running bike on them Hi live2dream, It sounds like it may be Allure Lock. It's exclusive to Harvey Norman in Australia and was priced at $59m2 during the Christmas period. Pretty sure you should still be able to buy it for that if you ask the franchisee. The franchisees are independent and the business is theirs to run so they ultimately control their own price they sell for. If it is that product, it's fantastic and spot on for what you are sounding like you need. It has a commercial quality wear layer, suitable for busy shops, cafes, even shopping centres and airports, so it will handle your house traffic with ease. It floats over your existing floor so you can save a lot of money by simply clicking in each piece yourself and not have to hire an installer. Go back in to the store closest to you and ask for a demonstration. There are some cheap imitations around in the market at the moment, so don't be tricked into thinking another brand is the same, it's not. Lower wear ratings and higher chalk content means they won't last as long. Allure lock has a lifetime warranty in domestic situations saying you won't wear through the wear layer - that's how tough it is Perhaps the salesperson was referring to the $115m2 price being for a similar quality in a traditional commercial grade plank, once it's been installed including floor preparation ? Not sure, but it sounds like that (did you tell them you had timber a sub floor and they allowed for laying and Masonite perhaps).... Good luck with your new floor ! HN, Can you confirm if the grip strip has a lifetime lifetime warranty or is it just the wear layer? Allure Lock, you mentioned that it uses the Unilin Uniclic joining system. Is it really the Unilin joining system? Is it the Unilin Licenced system which is not the Unilin joint but infringes on Unilin's Patent? Or is it a lock system as the name implies & is not a Unilin system at all? Does the joining method carry a lifetime warranty against failure? You haven't mentioned the floorprep required when installing over existing floors, from my experience the subfloor needs to be solid, level, pH levels need to be checked etc. I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me.
