TIA Re: Advice on cleaning new timber floors 3Dec 08, 2011 12:03 pm Hi melcur, I have had both solid timber and engineered timber floors, and I vac and/or sweep regularily, and then use a damp microfibre mop on mine. I have a spray bottle full of water and a dash of methylated spirits and use that to spray the floor and then mop with the damp mop straight away. It dries very quickly. I also use this method on the tiled areas (bathrooms). Gone are the days of the mop and bucket in this house! I will sweep most days (messy kids), vac probably twice a week (time permitting) and wash when I feel they need it, although the kitchen gets dones often. In the 12 years I had solid boards, and the 2 years I have had engineered, I have not had an issue with using this method. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! On the days it needs a mop, I use my enjo mop with a water bottle that has some pine o clean. I just spritz and mop over as I go Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Our Crazy Owner Builder Journey! Re: Advice on cleaning new timber floors 6Dec 08, 2011 3:10 pm You might want to check the pH of the Pine o Clean. It does two things - compromises the quality of the finish and negates the possibility of doing a maintenance coat on the floor. If you are going to use 3rd party cleaning products then always use pH neutral products. POC has a pH of between 8 and 9.5 meaning that you are adding a alkalinic product to your floor finish. Re: Advice on cleaning new timber floors 7Dec 08, 2011 3:14 pm Thanks so much guys! All very helpful. I was thinking of getting an Enjo microfibre mop but they are super expensive I think so might just get the sabco one from bunnings for starters Re: Advice on cleaning new timber floors 8Dec 08, 2011 3:19 pm I use the sabco ones all the time. I did buy a commercial width one which I use from time to time but at 1.2 wide its a bit cumbersome in smaller rooms Re: Advice on cleaning new timber floors 9Dec 08, 2011 4:11 pm An Australian company called Nature Direct have just released a new easy mop flooring system. It is sensational and so easy to use!! I will PM you details.
