Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Dec 05, 2011 3:47 pm I'm basically looking for opionions on what to do with 2 of our floors... We have a front living area that had carpet until I removed it to reveal floorboards that will soon be sanded and stained. Moving through the hallway to the back half of the house (same floor boards) you then enter the kitchen dining room that currently has parquet flooring on top of floor boards, which I dont mind but adjoining that room (i.e. open plan) is the family/living room which has a concrete floor. We could just polish the parquet and do whatever with the concrete...we could rip up the parquet and hope the boards underneath are OK to sand and match to the front ones and then tile or polish the back room...we could parquet the back room and try to match the kitchen/diner or we could just tile the whole back area and match up the different floor levels so they are the same, very undecided so would like anyones thoughts... I'd rather not have 3 different floor surfaces, which is why I'm trying to work it to have just 2! Cheers Re: What floor covering should I consider? 3Dec 13, 2011 10:45 pm I think kitchen and concrete room..have something different to the floorboards, or TOTALLY copy. so wood is running throughout the same, or wood and say a tile for a contrast wouldnt have 3 floorings. 1 or 2, at the most a nice white shiny slippery porcelain! What floor covering should I consider? 4Dec 15, 2011 1:45 pm Thanks Kiwi. Decided to get the front floor boards and parquet polished. They look great and the different wood seems fine. Now deciding what to do with the concrete floor at the back. Might even do parquet to match kitchen/dining area.
