Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Nov 25, 2011 7:32 am well my bamboo floors were installed Tuesday and wednesday, and then the carpet layed yesterday. We had our handover yesterday, while the carpet was installed, and after our handover, even with dust and rubbish on the floor I noticed some scratches on the bamboo floor.I did a quick walk around and found some more!! I queried the installer about them, and he played dumb, 'oh I dont know how they got there'. He had a toolbox sitting on the bamboo which had a couple of scratches next to it, also where he had placed our skirtings had a couple of scratches, and he also was sometimes wearing boots inside. After I queried him about the scratches, he was on the phone not long after, which I was sure to his boss[who happens to be his father].I had an appointment elsewhere so didnt have time to do anything about it then, but did ring the business a little while after, and the installer had rang them quite quickly and said he didnt do them! His dad was pleasant on the phone, and said you know tradies etc etc,[which his son was the ONLY tradie in there], or could have been damaged in the box etc etc.Told his son to give them a rub with turps etc. Im so dissappointed, I know the floors are going to scratch, as I have 3 sons, and a dog, but I just didnt expect the installer to scratch the floor.I have been so careful, waiting months to have the floors done, so no tradies would be coming in and scratching the floor. The bamboo has cost over $5000, for kitchen & dining and I havnt paid the account in full yet, so Im thinking not paying the full amount, as I do believe the installer is responsible for the scratches?? Re: brand new bamboo, installer has left scratches. 2Dec 30, 2011 6:51 pm Hello Mary Was it a floating floor or direct stick? If direct stick the boards can be removed quite easily and replace with new ones. If you live in Perth I might be able to help you. I was going to go for a flaoting floor just because i thought it would be easier to replace or repair them. Am i naive? Sorry Mary to hijack your thread. It is really scary to think you do all this planning and then someone else is so careless with your floor. Hello If the damaged boards are near the wall then would be easier to un -click and replace with new boards, but we all know that most of the time the damaged boards are in the middle of the room, so with direct stick, the board is cut out using a circular saw. With the new board the underneath of the groove on the side and the end are cut, then the back of the board is glued, the tongue can go in first and then the board can be push level to the other floor. Damaged in middle of room. If un-click you would have to unclick the floor taking of the beading until you get to the damaged board and then you would have to re lay, so would be quicker to remove the board if was direct stick. Hope this helps Bamboo Flooring Perth - Simply Bamboo http://www.simplybamboo.com.au Re: brand new bamboo, installer has left scratches. 5Jan 09, 2012 8:19 pm It really does help.
