Due to the current pricing of Blackbutt, we decided to put Australian Chestnut in the contract. Apparently it is expensive at the moment? Even our builder suggested we re-quote next year. I'd almost go as far as saying that Tasmanian Oak is harder flooring. A lot of our friends have gone with spotted gum, but that darkens over time and changes the feel of the house, so for us we should have gone with blackbutt. 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer.
