Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Nov 09, 2011 6:32 pm Can someone who has knowledge of the Peace of Mind Range of carpet at Carpet Court please help me out? I am looking at spending $7000 on this carpet for our new house extension (plus existing house) and just need some reassurance that it's an ok carpet. I am looking at the 'Blissful' range within Peace of Mind and perhaps even 'Inner peace'. Re: Carpet Court - Peace of Mind range of Carpet? 2Nov 16, 2011 8:13 pm I work for a Carpet Court store & anything in the Peace of Mind collection is a reasonable carpet. It is made by Godfrey Hirst & will be a white nylon. I personally prefer the Solution Dyed Nylons or even better in my opinion is the Sorona or Triexta fibre which is labelled as Redbook Green from Carpet Court. You have Ecology which is a Plush Pile, Habitat which is the LCL & the best is Sustain which is a heavy weight twist pile. I can't say I sell any Blissful or Inner peace, but I can find out more for you tomorrow & get back to you Re: Carpet Court - Peace of Mind range of Carpet? 6Nov 17, 2011 6:48 pm Hi gizmoe, Just caught up this thread when I tried to look for Minster North Cape range carpet. Looks like you have well knowledge of carpet... Need suggestion if I need to upgrade my carpet from the standard builder range or not. I read that most people get sick of the carpet after 10 years. Or should I upgrade the underlay to gold range (the thickest available) and take builder's inclusion? Or upgrade the underlay & the carpet as well to Redbook ? thanks!! Good questions, without seeing the builders range of carpets on offer it can be abit hard as my builders allow at least $50m2 for carpet & alot of the time more than that depending on what the customer has asked for from the builder. It obviously depends on what you can afford, but do you like any of the Builders Range carpet offered? Does the carpet have A.C.C.S. labels on the back of the samples indicating if it is Residential Heavy Duty, Residential Extra Heavy Duty or anything that can give you an indication of the quality? What are you looking for from your carpet? Is it purely to cover the floor? Is it a certain look or feel? What lifespan are you looking or hoping for? Can you afford to upgrade now or would it be better to do it 5 years from now when it might be easier to spend more on getting something really good? As for underlay, feel with your foot under the selected carpet can be a good way to go & a better u'lay will increase your carpets lifespan for sure, but if you are only looking for 5 years for an example, it may not really matter as when you replace the carpet with something better, you replace the u'lay with something better as well. I'm sure it has been said on here by royalblue? U'lay thickness doesnt mean anything without an increase in density. Our std foam u'lay is a Double sided 9mm 90kg/m3 density called Durawalk from MJS & it feels nice under foot & will give good durability for most carpets. Our commercial foam is a 140kg/m3 density 7mm foam which doesn't feel as nice as the Durawalk under foot on a thin economy carpet, but it will give great support & will help the carpet to live a reasonable lifespan. Our top domestic ulay is somewhere around 140-160kg/m3 in a 10mm thickness & under a good thick carpet it feels great & will give outstanding support & help to increase the carpets longevity. We recently fitted an Alpaca carpet from Velieris & we installed it Dual Bond on Dunlop DB9 a 120kg/m3 density 9mm foam & it feels awesome underfoot. Anything 90kg/m3 or heavier with a DSL or double sided laminate is reasonable, just don't let thickness make you think you are getting a better product. Feel with your foot Not sure if I answered your question, but please ask anything & I will endeavour to hopefully help you out. Re: Carpet Court - Peace of Mind range of Carpet? 8Nov 17, 2011 9:51 pm Thank you so much, Gizmoe!! yes, I can upgrade the carpet now but I prefer not, because building a house has blown out my budget.... But Minster North Cape is very basic, well it's soft like I want, not sure about A.C.C.S label at the back, I will have to check it again this weekend.... With the underlay, I need to check their weight etc. I love the Dunlop range , but they don't have.... Thanks, gizmoe.. I don't know what North Cape is & being part of a buying group the names all get changed around abit. Dunlop make a good ulay & it is Aussie Made & owned by the Kiwi's which still makes them half Aussie. Dunlop doesn't do a DSL & there weights are slightly less than some others out there, but Springtred Extra is 9mm thick with 95kg/m3 density & Ultimate is 10mm with 120kg/m3 density. I wouldnt go less than the Extra & its easily identified by the Extra being printed all over the Ulay. Ulay is a cheap upgrade really... Re: Carpet Court - Peace of Mind range of Carpet? 10Nov 17, 2011 10:07 pm Althom What do you think of the Redbook Matilda Bay range? Chased it up today as names get changed too often. It is a good product about 50oz & I'm sure it was an Invista fibre? If your happy with the colour , feel & cost then go for it as it is a good quality carpet looking at the specs. With underlay, the carpet company gave me Dunlops Springtread Extra for $5/sqm or Springtread Ultimate $8/sqm. What do you think ? Is it a normal price or rip off underlay price? Thanks. I've filled, levelled and compacted around 100mm of roadbase in preparation to lay some outdoor court tiles. Prior to doing the final compaction, I dusted the top with… 0 3067 1 11151 1 15949 |
