Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 07, 2008 9:59 pm hi,
we're about to sign our quote but I'm now thinking I'd like timber floors instead of tiles in the hall/kitchen/meals/family. In our last house we had floorboards throughout (with a few rugs). I like the look and thinks they can disguise the damage/mess of 2 kids a bit better. I just think tiles will feel cold and require more heating in winter and if I ever drop a glass/plate in the kitchen it will smash. And with 2 small kids, I'm expecting a few over the next few years. What do I need to consider to get a good finish? I don't mind timber that has flaws and characters and would be thinking of a medium colour... (vague I know, but I've only had the idea for 2 days and will be dragging the husband off to a showroom this weekend!) Here's the plan http://www.nationalbuilders.com.au/PDF/ ... Melton.pdf thanks in advance, Anthea Re: timber vs tiles - which is better? 7Feb 09, 2008 2:53 pm rellie royalblue I see your toddler likes a bit of comfort when sitting on the floor! He's actally not a toddler and was using the carpet as a 'magic flying carpet'..... I stand corrected Why didn't he want to ride the magic flying floorboards instead? Ash. Dont mind Ash ... he would have carpet everywhere if he could!! Everyone knows you cant ride floorboards Ash ... unless you are a witch (or warlock ) We are putting down wood in the main living areas, passage, staircase, study and family room. Carpet in the bedrooms and tiles in the kitchen. I can't stand the feel of grease or water on wooden floors. Hardwood is nice and a mid range colour might be Oak, Brushbox, Ironbark. The list is endless. Have a look at the Boral website. Re: timber vs tiles - which is better? 11Feb 09, 2008 6:48 pm What….like this????

Do yu think it's a good idea? Why not keep the floor carpeted and have a mirrored ceiling instead...? Fiona Fiona, I'm liking the way you think! Ash. brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7589 Bigger the better for storage for me IMO. But I guess it's harder to tell the cost/benefit in your example - mainly the 'cost'? If you go 700mm, what are you doing extra… 2 1550 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7310 |
