Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Feb 07, 2008 10:59 pm hi,
we're about to sign our quote but I'm now thinking I'd like timber floors instead of tiles in the hall/kitchen/meals/family. In our last house we had floorboards throughout (with a few rugs). I like the look and thinks they can disguise the damage/mess of 2 kids a bit better. I just think tiles will feel cold and require more heating in winter and if I ever drop a glass/plate in the kitchen it will smash. And with 2 small kids, I'm expecting a few over the next few years. What do I need to consider to get a good finish? I don't mind timber that has flaws and characters and would be thinking of a medium colour... (vague I know, but I've only had the idea for 2 days and will be dragging the husband off to a showroom this weekend!) Here's the plan http://www.nationalbuilders.com.au/PDF/ ... Melton.pdf thanks in advance, Anthea Re: timber vs tiles - which is better? 7Feb 09, 2008 3:53 pm ![]() ![]() I see your toddler likes a bit of comfort when sitting on the floor! ![]() He's actally not a toddler and was using the carpet as a 'magic flying carpet'..... Everyone knows you cant ride floorboards Ash ... unless you are a witch (or warlock ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We are putting down wood in the main living areas, passage, staircase, study and family room. Carpet in the bedrooms and tiles in the kitchen. I can't stand the feel of grease or water on wooden floors. Hardwood is nice and a mid range colour might be Oak, Brushbox, Ironbark. The list is endless. Have a look at the Boral website. Re: timber vs tiles - which is better? 11Feb 09, 2008 7:48 pm What….like this????
