We currently have polished floorboards and they were done in water-based polyurethane so whilst they're yellowish they're not orange yet. All our wood furniture is dark chocolate brown and we also have a few pieces of dark brown leather (ottomans, dining chairs etc.) In our next house we've been toying with the idea of slightly liming the floors before the polyurethane goes down. We have two toddlers and our main concern is whether scratches will show badly. We have scratches all over our floors from toys at the moment but it doesn't bother us because there's no stain on the floors, just the clear polyurethane. I DON'T mean like this, this is too white for our furniture and too much of a contrast...
