Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Oct 14, 2011 7:50 pm Just wondering if there has been any issues with it being slippery when wet or wearing socks? We have selected PP though the house, with carpet up the hall and the same tile in matt porcelain in the bathroom. We're considering tiling the hallway but that would mean polished porcelain in the bathroom instead of the matt. It's a costly decision to make so I'm keen to hear of other's experiences. Re: Anyone have a Polished poreclain floor? 2Oct 14, 2011 8:09 pm i've seen polished porcelain in bathroom and shower base, not some place i want to be shower and singing along, next thing you know could be spinning in there. i have pp throughout the whole house except br and bathrooms. it is already slippery with socks on when the floor is dry, my kitchen is dry 90% time, except times for mopping / steam mopping i follow quickly with dry fabric to soak up the water/moisture, this is how it should be clean without leaving water marks anyway. one thing i find, if the pp tiled area is small, such as a short hallway that is not adjacent/joining to any other pp tiled area it may look a bit out of place. just my thought, each to their own though. goodluck. Re: Anyone have a Polished poreclain floor? 3Oct 14, 2011 8:16 pm We have polished porcelain throughout, including bathrooms. I didn't even think of the slippery issue until after we'd decided and signed, by then too late. The bathrooms are what I was most concerned about, no need to be though, I am surprised by how slippery it isn't! When washing the floor, I first vacuum and then go over it not with a decor speed busy mop using nothing but warm water (so far so good) and the floor isn't left wet at all. We all have hot feet so don't wear socks inside, so no slippery socks but a few bare feet footprints LOL My building thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36059 Paid initial deposit 24/7/10 Tender appointment 20/8/2010 Flooring and tile appointment 25/9/10 Colour and Electrical appointment 13/9/10 December site start delayed Site start (YAY!) 17/1/11 Slab pour 1/2/2011 Re: Anyone have a Polished poreclain floor? 4Oct 14, 2011 8:34 pm Polished porcelain throughout here too, including bathrooms and showers. Actually I found the semi-glazed ceramic tiles in the shower at the last house were more slippery than the porcelains I've got now, and they didn't look as good. Socks are slippery on anything, why not wear slipper-sox that have an acrylic-paint type pattern on the sole, they are great. Halls here are polished porcelain, only the bedrooms are carpeted and the study has vinyl planks, all other floors are the same polished porcelain tile which are soooo easy to maintain...just turn on the vacuum and let it do the work for you. Haven't needed to wash them yet, only been in for 11 months!! Re: Anyone have a Polished poreclain floor? 5Oct 14, 2011 8:38 pm Slippery ? Yes and No. But....but....if you have kids, they will show you how to wear socks and slide from one end of your passage right on through the wall at the other end !
