Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 25, 2011 10:33 am Hi everyone, after reading through so many topics on this forum I finally decided to register and this is my first post. We've just started doing some basic renovating of our first home... We've replaced all the blinds with white 50mm timber venetians, painted the walls in Dulux Hog Bristle half strength and have been doing other interior decorating. Finally we've gotten around to doing the floor...the floor in the living area is half carpet and half tile so we're looking at pulling everything up and replacing it all with laminate timber flooring (laminate rather than timber for budget reasons). We're going to carry the laminate through to the kitchen/meals and hallway area too so about 60sqm in total. The problem is there are so many brands and colours available and we're having a really hard time trying to decide what to go with. At the moment we're looking at Titan Select Long Board NSW Spotted Gum which is 12mm, Armstrong Timber Inspirations Spotted Gum 12mm and Quick Step Eligna Afzelia 8mm. We've pretty much eliminated the Quick Step because, although it is a well respected product, we just feel that the matt finish and thin 8mm board make it look and feel (that clacky sound when you walk on it) more like a laminate. Our preference at the moment is for the Titan Select but there doesn't seem to be many reviews on it. I've seen a couple of threads where people have referred to it but no real stories of success or otherwise. Does anyone have any advice on the above products? Our furniture is a combination of white, elm and dark wood so the glossy Ttian Select spotted gum offers the variation in colour and the gloss really sets off the matt finish furniture. We're trying to go for a sort of Hamptons style in our interior decorating. I would appreciate any advice on the flooring Thank you fro your response, Simeon.
