Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Sep 23, 2011 12:34 am I stupidly chose dark tiles in my bathroom, thinking it was nice and sleek looking. Well, I HATE it. I don't know what I was thinking. They show water spots really easily, and I have a cat and his litter box goes in the bathroom, so you can ALWAYS see the litter. It also shows any marks or scratches really easily and after living in my place for 3 years, you can already see a big scratch on the floor. Should I suck it up and re-tile now, or wait until it's had a bit more wear and tear? I can't decide...part of me just hates it, but they were expensive tiles and I kind of also want to feel that I got value for my money. Re: To re-tile or not to re-tile? 2Sep 25, 2011 3:32 pm Hi GreenLady, It appears you are not able to find a single good thing about your nice dark tiles, if it's such an eye sore and you have the spare cash, why not and I think you should go for it. Be careful though, once you get a new set of light colour tiles, they will also have their pros and cons and can be a nightmare to clean too Re: To re-tile or not to re-tile? 4Sep 27, 2011 11:25 pm eyspy Have you thought of a nice light coloured floor mat till you are ready to re tile ? I have, but my cat is elderly, and will often pee on things left on the floor, even if his litter is right there. I think it's just easier for him and if there's something to pee on even slightly closer, he'll go for that instead. This is why I don't even have rugs in my place. Re: To re-tile or not to re-tile? 5Sep 28, 2011 6:01 pm I’d stick it out till the cat passes on…..sorry, but probably best that way. OR if you really can’t cope go and buy a nice cheap roll vinyl while your cat is till around and put that on the floor. Vinyls better to clean and there’s no grout to have to worry about soaking those spills up….cat mess. (I’ve had an elderly cat I know what you mean) Then later you can redo your floor tiles. ….there are some great roll vinyls out now!
