I work full time at a carpet store, if I don’t know the answer to your question I will find out for you from work. Advice I give on this thread is from me and my thoughts only as a flooring sales person and a decorator. From my research they can make 100% markup. I was quoted $6-7K for my house, they quoted 7 but could probably get it for 6. I knew someone that can get the carpet at cost from supplier. I was charge $4200 and that's with the install cost. So i am guessing the cost price was 3000-3500. Re: Carpet and flooring 6Sep 06, 2011 7:06 am OK guys, this is my thread, and I don’t want my name on anything to do with pricing and mark ups on Carpet Courts products. This is a thread for product information, can we keep it that way please. We were upgraded for free to 10mm by our builder. http://lindeman28.blogspot.com - Our building blog Re: Carpet and flooring 8Sep 06, 2011 10:53 pm This might not be a question you can answer, as I'm unsure if Carpet Court sell carpet squares... But I'm considering doing carpet squares due to budget limitations. I have found them very cheap including what appears to be a soft underlay and I've been advised that I could probably lay them myself. Do you see any major disadvantages of the squares compared to regular carpet? From my point of view I can see the joins between the squares as been a little ugly, also the underlay does vary a lot between the different squares so that may also potentially be an issue. I found 2 out of about 20 I looked at had a nice soft underlay that felt thicker than dunlop excellay, the others were almost paper thin Also, I'm considering buying (for the rest of the house) vinyl planks. I think they look great but are they hard wearing? Do they get damaged easily by moving heavy objects across them? I do plan to have them in the kitchen so items such as the fridge will be moved across them... Also, do you happen to have any pictures of anyone using vinyl planks in the bathroom ? I've seen plenty of pictures of them been used in general and they look great and are a very cost effective alternative to wooden flooring. Re: Carpet and flooring 9Sep 07, 2011 6:33 am Trewman Would anybody be able notice the difference between 8mm underlay and 10mm? We were upgraded for free to 10mm by our builder. YOU will notice the difference; it’s probably a better underlay. Grab it if you can! What most people don’t realise is, the underlay is the important part of the carpet. The better the underlay, the longer your carpet will wear well. Yes CC sells Carpet Tiles, but they are mostly used for commercial applications. BUT, they are a very hard wearing carpet and wear well, which is why they are used for commercial use. Vinyl flooring is one of the floors that will take water on them. I’ve sold quite a bit for bathrooms. What do people do with the shower area if they do vinyl planking in the bathroom? Also, I saw a small piece about cork flooring in a recent interior decorating flyer so I googled it and found some AMAZING images of modern cork flooring. Only on US sites though. Do you stock it or know who does? But it’s a floating system, so the same principle as floating laminate and timber floors. A couple of ml of cork glued onto a pine board backing. We in Nowra don’t sell the solid cork flooring. Not sure about any of the other stores. Ours is from Readyflor No I don’t have any photos of vinyl planks in bathrooms. You have to use tiles in the shower, that’s a must. Eg, Redbook Green or Godfrey Hirst eco+ or another brand? Have you heard any feedback on this type of carpet? I know they haven't been in the market for very long but I love how soft they feel. (I have a 2yo boy and we want to lay carpet through most of the house including stairs.) 2) Any suggestions on how to find carpets that are low VOC? Thanks in advance Valleygirl23 Re: Carpet and flooring 16Sep 23, 2011 6:21 am Hi valleygirl23, Yes Carpet Court sells the Godfrey Hirst Ecco range “Redbook Green Ecology “ Its probably one of the softest carpets we have in the store!
