Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 15, 2011 10:20 am We glued our timber floor directly over concrete. There were a couple of spots where the concrete wasn't perfectly flat, so it now squeaks a little bit. We are going to drill small holes in those spots ... Would you recommend we inject those and fill with "liquid nails" or just "no more gaps"?

Re: Filling hollow spaces under timber floor 4Aug 15, 2011 5:13 pm When you direct stick to concrete you are meant to tap over the floor with a broom stick or similar after laying a few boards and before the glue has set. When you find a hollow spot you should drill a 3mm hole and nail it down with a concrete nail (you get these from your flooring supplier). This is then punched and filled at the floor sanding stage. The nail just holds the board down until the glue has gone off. You are meant to nail all edge boards as well. Re: Filling hollow spaces under timber floor 11Aug 17, 2011 12:07 am Over here in the west we don't use nails that are removed. We use 3.3mm diameter concrete nails that get hammered into a pre-drilled 3mm hole. These really bite and pull the board down. They are then punched and filled. They make sure that the board is pulled into the glue and as you don't pull them out they will hold the board down even if the glue bond is minimal.
