We are looking to order our floor tiles soon and out of all the tiles places in Melbourne, one stood out and we both finally agree on.
It's a 900mm x 450mm full bodied semi polished porcelain tile. This particular tile comes with a life time warrante
(you need to jump through a few hoops to get it but is still offered.)
We are going to do our ground floor so we want it looking schmick! This tile is light in colour (stone grey/beige with slight natural stone coloration through it) and was looking to go with a matching grout for that seamless look.
From the post and pics on the forum, we have decided to go with 1.5mm grout, rectified edge and I read somewhere that a sand-cement base is best for this type of job?
The floor is level so I dont think levelling agents will be required.
Is there any one that has recently layed a larger porcelain tile. If so, what were approx labout costs for a job like this.
I will be getting a few quotes but need to know what people are paying so I can tell if a quote comes in 'excessive' or 'super cheap and nasty'. The tile shop recommends their tilers, but I worry that they may try and rip us off, being 'recommended'.
Feel free to post ant pics you may have.
