Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Aug 09, 2011 6:28 pm Hi Today I walked into a display home that had a timber look tile. Has anyone put them in their home? Do you have some pics to share. I have seen them in this home before and not really taken much notice. I really like timber flooring but will not be putting it in for a few reasons. If you have laid this type of floor are you happy with your choice. Thank you Re: timber look tiles 2Aug 09, 2011 10:32 pm There's a few threads, mostly with my comments in them, on vinyl planks. Vinyl planks are designed to look like wood planks. My current plan is to use them in my build, but I haven't determined a build date yet. Re: timber look tiles 3Aug 10, 2011 12:21 am Lot 927, did you mean the ceramic tiles that look like timber floorboards? IMO, they look great and would be very practical. You would have the benefits of ceramic tiles (more hardwearing, waterproof etc), with the warm look of timber. I believe they are very pricey at the moment because of them being reasonably new to the market and not widely available yet, but if you are happy to do the outlay I think it could be worth it. Re: timber look tiles 4Apr 07, 2012 4:35 pm Sorry to bump an old thread but does has anyone looked into the timber look tiles recently? Anyone installed them? Comments? What about cost? What's the going p/sqm $$? Casey + Gary + 5 kool kiddos + 1 funky Frenchie + 5 happy hens = barrels of fun in Muswellbrook Re: timber look tiles 5Apr 07, 2012 5:34 pm I did look at them. I saw them first at Lifestiles last year; they were porcelain and imported from Italy and were well over $100 per square metre. I have seen some since at Beaumont tiles though not the same ones (called Plank from memory) for $69.47 a square metre. Hynes, the Tile People also had some a while back and they were over $100 per square metre but they have now replaced them with their own range (only two choices as far as I could see) and they are about $60 a square metre. I really like the look of them but we ended up going with something cheaper. Re: timber look tiles 6Feb 09, 2014 12:02 pm I'm going to bump this thread. Can ppl who have laid them post some pics please? I too am considering timber look tiles but am nervous they will date, although timber doesn't date so what are your thoughts ? Re: timber look tiles 7Feb 09, 2014 1:40 pm I'm expecting my main floor to be laid in the next 1-3 weeks. In the meantime - Google is your friend - plenty of images: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=timber+look+tiles&client=safari&hl=en-gb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=hvf2Upu_PMnIkQWuy4Eg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAA&biw=1024&bih=672#facrc=_ When I get a chance I'll find the photos of the displays from the tiling store my builder used. These are just taken with a phone camera You can get these as low as $13.50/sqm on sale. Regular price is around $18. They aren't for everyone, but they do have a really good look and wear well. ColorTile have nice ones for $49.50 and have seen others for $45m2 Will post pics of the ones we end up with Re: timber look tiles 18Apr 01, 2014 1:20 pm I took this photo yesterday at a local tile shop because we are considering them too. Our architect is not keen on them and thinks they will look tacky and date quickly but they look so real and timber has never dated so I am not sure? Hopefully this might bump the thread and if there are any more people out there who have some real photos I would love to see them Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Interested in getting either the Polytec Boston Oak or Palace Peak for kitchen cabinets.
