Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jan 25, 2008 11:37 am We recently had new carpet and floorboards laid by a company.
The sub-contractor burnt a hole the size of a fist through both sides of an expensive jacket I bought in Europe. The jacket, along with others, had been placed onto the top bunk bed, ironically, to keep them safe. The manager, salesman and sub-contractor refused to believe they were responsible for the hole, they were extremely rude and insisted that the hole was made by a cigarette burn. Their last words - "see you in court". Aside from that, the job they did was unfinished and poor. The carpet comes up at the edges and the floorboard trim is not complete. When we insisted we weren't paying the final payment until they did the job properly, they told us too bad, the remaining cost had been taken off our credit card (we paid half of the fee prior to commencement). Had the carpet laid, the carpets layers accidentally dripped rusty water out of a metal folding chair onto the carpet they JUST laid!!!!!!!!!!! They did the best at cleaning it up………BLACK stain marks, I went out a few days later to see how it looked……I accidentally walked MUD in on the NEW carpet!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah I no…I should know better!!! Carpet Court…..sent a Carpet Cleaner out there the next day and had it all professionally cleaned for me. At their cost!!! Pick your carpet companies carefully….it pays in the long run!!!!
